Malaysia’s Paul San carded in rounds of 68, 68, and 74 to finish three shots behind champion Joe Heraty at the MENA Tour Malaysian Swing I, which ended today at The Els Club Desaru Coast, Johor.
The Malaysian, who was trailing behind overnight leader Heraty by one heading into the last day, closed the final round with a two-over par 74 to be in joint second with Italy’s Aron Zemmer at six-under par 210.
Heraty, who shot a superb eight-under par 64 on the second day, ended his campaign with a solid even-par 72 to run away with the title at nine-under par 207.
A total of 36 Malaysians entered the field this week, where 14 managed to make the halfway cut. Five Malaysians, namely runner-up Paul San, Danial Jazmi (5th), Khor Kheng Hwai (7th), Danny Chia (T8), and Galven Kendall Green (T8), finished within the top ten.
Meanwhile, best amateur honors went to Egypt’s Issa Abbou El Ela, who signed in rounds of 73, 75, and 72 for a total of four-over par 220.
The MENA Tour will return to The Els Club Desaru Coast on April 18-20 to hold the second event of the Malaysian Swing.
