KOTA KINABALU, 16 JULY 2024 – A whopping 65 children from ages 6 to 17 participated in an energetic and fun-filled junior clinic organised by the Toyota Tour at the Sabah Golf & Country Club practice facility yesterday, in conjunction with the prestigious Hilux Cup that tees off today at the demanding Sabah GCC.
The kids, who came from as far as Kudat, Keningau, other clubs and driving ranges within Kota Kinabalu itself, were treated to first-hand tutelage by professionals Brandon Lai, Nasrullah Zulkifli, Casper Loh, Ben Leong and Aretha Pan. Supporting the cast were Sabah GCC head coach Fraser Pook and his coaches Lam and Vivienne.
Because of the large number of kids – the biggest so far since the inception of the Toyota Tour in February 2023 – three game stations were created involving chipping, putting and hitting off the mats.
Most of the juniors were awed by Sabah products Leong, Loh, Lai and Pan who grew up learning the game at this club. At the end of the session which lasted almost three hours, all the kids were clamouring for autographs from all the professionals.
Sabah GCC provided refreshments for all participants while Toyota Tour sponsored their exclusive Tour caps. The next Toyota Tour junior clinic will be held at Johor’s Palm Resort GCC on Aug 11.
