SIBU, 23 JUNE 2024 – A total of 30 children with ages ranging between 6 and 16 showed up for the Toyota Tour Junior Clinic at the driving range of Kelab Golf Sibu here this afternoon.

The children, some of whom came from as far as Bintulu, engaged and interacted with five professional golfers who arrived this morning for the Fortuner Cup that starts on Tuesday. This is the first time that KGS is hosting a professional tournament.

The five pros included Afif Fathi, Nasrullah Zulkifli, Casper Loh, Ikmal Basry and Umar Kushairi. The lively 2-hour session ended with an entertaining long-drive competition between Nasrullah and Afif.

Meanwhile, KGS’ club champion Lee Ka Tung is relishing the opportunity to compete against Malaysia’s top professionals. He is grouped with Toyota Tour Order of Merit leader Galven Green and rookie pro Marcus Lim in the first of three marquee flights. Lim, who runs the pro shop and driving range at KGS is also the course record holder of 62. He plays to a handicap of 2.

The other marquee flights include Vios Cup champion Paul San, 2023 Camry Cup winner Daeng Rahman and Malcolm Ting who won the Sibu Amateur Open here last year. The third marquee flight comprises Ben Leong, Nicholas Fung and long-hitting Amir Nazrin.

The Toyota Tour, in its second year is organised by the Professional Golf Malaysia and delivered by MST Golf.
